Instagram is one of the most important social platforms for music discovery and engagement. This chart highlights the artists with the biggest followings on Instagram and their follower growth.

Wavo Analysis

  • The most popular artist Instagram accounts remain similar week-over-week, but their ranking typically changes due to music, press, and other social activities. For example, Dua Lipa recovered from a loss in Followers last week due to her new single, gaining over 150,000 new IG fans and landing in the 9th spot.

  • Cardi B has maintained her top spot for two weeks now, largely in part to her outspoken online presence, active release schedule, and role as a judge on the Netflix reality series "Rhythm + Flow." She's the 36th most-followed Instagram account in the world.

  • Cardi B is trailed closely by Camila Cabello, who had the most-streamed song on Spotify this past summer ("Señorita"). The two artists featured on the same Ed Sheeran song "South of the Border," also released this past summer.
